How do I send text to landline messages?
Sending a Text to Landline message is just like sending a
standard text message. Just create a text message from your Sprint Nextel phone,
and address it to a 10–digit phone number as you would with a regular text
message. Your text is converted to a voice message, which is automatically read
to the recipient when he or she answers the phone. If the recipient does not
answer the phone, your text message is stored as a voicemail, provided the
recipients has voicemail service on their landline phone. Your recipient can
also reply to your message.
How do I send text messages to international numbers?
When texting to an international number, use the following number
format, based on which type of phone you’re using:
Sprint: Enter 011, the country code, the Mobile Designator Digit, if required,
and then the wireless number.
Nextel: Enter the plus (+) sign, the country code, the Mobile Designator Digit,
if required, and then the wireless number.
NOTE:
A few countries have started adding a digit to the phone number, which Sprint
Nextel refers to as a Mobile Designator Digit. The digit is used by the
international carrier to identify the phone number as a mobile number. This
digit should be entered preceding the phone number. Currently, Mexico, Honduras,
and Thailand require the Mobile Designation Digit.
As an example, to address a text message to France using a Sprint phone, enter
the following:
01133<wireless number>
To address a text message to Mexico using a Nextel phone, enter the following:
+521<wireless number>
International text messages can only be sent to or received by wireless
subscribers of an international carrier listed on the Country codes for
international text messages .
NOTE:
Sprint subscribers cannot send or receive text messages while in an
international location at this time.
How do I send a text message to an email
address?
To send a text message to an email address, when addressing the
recipient of the text message, instead of entering a phone number, enter an
email address. For a Sprint text message being sent to one or more email
addresses, the number of characters in the longest email address plus one will
be subtracted from the total number of characters you are allowed to put into
the body of the message. Spaces and symbols also count towards the total 160.
For Nextel text messaging, the same rules apply, but the limit is 500
characters.
As an example, if you text person@domain.com, that gives you 160-18=142
characters available for your message on a Sprint phone, or 500-18=482
characters available on a Nextel phone.
